Current Premier KO Cup champions, the King’s Lynn ‘Money Centre’ Stars, face a tough first round opener against the Reading Racers as they aim to keep hold of the Cup for a record 4th consecutive season.
The Reading Racers come into the tie on the back of some good form and will be safe in the knowledge that they have 3 King’s Lynn track specialists in their team, Tom P Madsen, Ulrich Ostergaard and at the top of the list Chris ‘Milk it’ Mills. The first leg of the tie is due to be raced at Reading on Monday evening with the 2nd leg just 48 hours later at the Norfolk Arena, Rob Lyon gives us his evaluation of the Stars chances ‘it’s going to be tough that much is for sure, personally I feel we can keep it close at Reading but our home form is what is unpredictable at present, if I can get all the riders fired up then we stand a chance but I don’t think we can carry any passengers on this one occasion, if we do manage to get past this first leg tie then I’m confident we can go all the way once again.’
The Stars will be riding away at Reading with Shaun Tacey at number 5 and Rusty Harrison at number 4, for the home leg the 2 will reverse positions. It will be particularly interesting to see what sort of performance Chris Mills puts together against his old team, Buster Chapman is one man who will be glad to see him at the Norfolk Arena again ‘Chris is a great character and I really enjoyed having him in the team for the last couple of years, he will always be welcome here and I’m sure the fans will make sure he knows that, he earned a special place in all there hearts’. Getting back to the nitty gritty of it and Buster has some stern words for his team ‘this is the most important match for the club so far this season, we are out of the Premier Trophy and that’s a hard pill to swallow, but this is where all the team need to stand up and show their worth!’
The meeting takes place this Wednesday evening at 7:30pm at the Norfolk Arena, information hotline 01553 771111. Admission prices, Adults £12, Concessions £8, 12-15yrs £4 and all kids 11 and under are free.
